You can start cycling this tour from Riga from Wednesday to Sunday.
Day 1. Train to Sigulda (1 hr 15 min by train)
Because the main road is not good for cycling (too much traffic) and the secondary road is very sandy, we do not recommend to cycle to Sigulda, but take a train. Sights like Sigulda Cable Car, Sigulda New and Old Castles, Bobsleigh and Luge track and Gauija National Park are worth visiting in Sigulda. The adventurous ones can also take a tour to Sigulda Adventure Park, the largest outdoor adventure park in the Baltics. Accommodation in hotel.
Day 2: Bike ride from Sigulda to Limbazi (58 km / 36 miles)
On your way out of Sigulda is Turaida castle, plan some time to visit it. Then the route continues to beautiful Birini and Igate Manors. Day ends in Limbazi. Accommodation nearby in B&B.
Day 3. Bike ride to Ainazi (73 km / 45.6 miles)
Quiet road will take you back to the Baltic coast, to Estonian-Latvian border town Ainazi. Accommodation in hotel.
Day 4: Bike road to Pärnu (67 km / 41.1 miles)
Route takes you through small villages where the sea is just next to you. You can take a break in Kabli, climb to bird watching tower and enjoy fresh baked bread in Kabli village. Day ends in West-Estonia’s most known summer resort Pärnu. Pärnu is famous for it’s beach life and made it’s way to the list of Russian imperial resorts already in 1890. Long, white sandy beaches, shallow waters and “the best Sun in Estonia” attract Estonians and visiting guests alike. Accommodation in small hotel.
Day 5: Bike ride to Varbla (70 km / 43.5 miles)
Route takes you to Valgeranna (White sand) beach and then continues through small villages to Varbla. Accommodation nearby in hotel.
Day 6: Bike ride to Muhu island (32 km + 0.5 hrs Ferry + 32 km / 19.2 miles + 0.5 hrs + 19.2 miles)
This day road takes you to Muhu island. Muhu is the place where time rests – authentic sleepy fishing villages, working windmills, thatched cottages. The day’s highlight is authentic Koguva village and museum - the best preserved 19th century village in Estonia, where all of the buildings are architectural landmarks. Overnight is in authentic tourism farm.
Day 7: Bike ride to Saaremaa island to Kuressaare (78 km / 48 miles)
Your destination – Kuressaare, is small and charming summer resort known for it’s medieval castle. Accommodation is in small hotel next to the castle, sea and beach. Accommodation nearby the sea and castle in a small hotel.
Day 8: Bike ride to Leisi (51 km /32 miles)
On your way is Kaali field of meteorite craters -the rarest nature wonder in Estonia, being at the same time the most spectacular in Eurasia. Windmills are considered to be the symbol of Saaremaa. You will pass Angla Windmill Mount, where you can see the windmills characteristic of the island of Saaremaa, watch a miller at work and taste homemade bread. Accommodation nearby Leisi in authentic farmhouse hotel.
Day 9: Bike ride to Hiiumaa island (55 km /34 miles)
In the morning, ferry will take you to Hiiumaa island. Hiiumaa is known for its lighthouses, unspoilt nature, Kassari and the sense of humour of its inhabitants. Kassari island with its well known Sääre tirp peninsula, romantic chapel and Vaemla Wool Factory, where the yarn is made using authentic machineries from last century are on your way to island’s capital Kärdla. known of it’s cosy islander atmosphere. Day 10. Bike ride to Haapsalu (38 km /24 miles)
Route will take you to Heltermaa harbor. After about 1.5 hrs on ferry, you will have 10 km to cycle to day’s highlight is Haapsalu – a charming seaside resort famous for its range of spa hotels and fine beach. The old town is popular too and Haapsalu Castle, haunted by a white lady, hosts many events including various music festivals. Accommodation is in small hotel.
Day 11: Bike ride to Vasalemma, train to Tallinn (65 km / 40 miles)
This day is just riding day. Enjoy Estonian diverse nature: the route goes through forests and fields, you will pass some bogs. Padise Manor, located next to the mystic ruins of Padise Monastery are the main sights on your way. Train from Vasalemma to Tallinn.
